With three months to go before the start of the Olympic Games, JTU held a press conference to reveal the Triathlon national team in Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo on 19th May.
The selected team members are as follows:
<Elite Women>
Ai Ueda - Perie, Green Tower, BRIDGESTONE, Inage Inter
Yurie Kato - Perie, Green Tower, Inage Inter
Yuka Sato - Toshin Partners, NTT East and NTT West, Team KENS
<Elite Men>
Hirokatsu Tayama - NTT East and NTT West, Ryutsu Keizai University
Replacement athelets are:

Yuko Takahashi - Fujitsu
<Elite Men>
Jyunpei Furuya, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited.
